Clones
14 July 1880

My Dear Bob,

I am only sending your David’s likeness this time as I am only with a scrap when I send two he got it taken and sent one to his Aunts in New Zealand and had a letter from them   lately and requested it and I think his Aunts Cath and Ann will have him out there if nothing occurs to change this and there ….. views he is much anxious to go There was a letter lately and they  ……….. have received  your letter as in April they had no word from you………. You have another to them and to her ……….. brother  as I think they would be glad to get it He should send for them as  ….. has been very hard in their county lately and little prospect for a rising family Uncle Jas has written very encouraging letters in his old style and thinks still there is no place like America he said that Bob had written to you. Aunt Eliza sent him your address. They were all well at Dromore. We are for going over to see them see them some now while cousin Maggie is with us. She came to us on the 5th December so glad she came. She is quite well and left all well at the Grove. They had a few lines from cousin Thomas the morning he left home they were a good deal disappointed that he had not got their letter when the day they were ready and willing to go  - they seemed most anxious to get away indeed it would be a happy change for them. They ….. Rosina … stay behind them but she has …. … in to go. Johnnie was there just before he came home on Saturday last. He is quite well Miss Newell was there for nearly 3 months but is gone home. I sent you Mr Henry ….. and Mr Walker’s last     I now have some of Mr     family to send you

Father was in Belfast and saw the Walker’s but did not go to the S…… as he did not have time Mrs Nesbit is over on a visit and her two children there now and all are quite agreeable. There has never been a letter from Bob Moorehead since he left London in January last. It is very strange your letter to him is here both times as he has not written here. If he has written to you and let us know as I gave him your address I feel very anxious and fear something must have occurred to him when he is so very long silent There is very little new about here Mr Henry Stonebridge died on 2nd of July and was buried in Stonebult, he was a nice kind wee body. We had a quiet 12 July the Orangemen were in a field behind Rev Finlays all went to it though it rained a good deal except cousin Maggie Lizzie and I. In the evening …. Up and Jas Ferguson came up and had tea with us and took us away to the canal and her and Johnnie rowed us up in their boat to the white bridge and back again. Lisa and David tried to row but made a poor hand. Maggie and I enjoyed the row it was such a change for us. There is a cricket club started Johnnie is become a member. It is played in a field next but one to the manse a meadow belonging to the Beatties we had some ….. lately cousin Maggie, Sarah  and I with David for a drive but the weather is wet and miserable. Father, Johnnie, Maggie, Sarah and I are invited to Mrs Flemmings this evening for tea to meet the bride and groom Mr and Mrs Kir….. I am unwilling to go but cousin Maggie would not go without me. I have not been very strong of late but am getting something better. Sarah says I must go back with Maggie and I will if all be well it is nearly three years since I was there now. It seems a long time since we heard from your more than 6 months. I hope this will find you and cousins well and happy. I will send you a paper of the 12th news when it comes. Your father and all here join me in kind love to cousin Thomas and Robert and hope you are all in good health. Maggie sends her kind love to Thomas Robt and yourself. Ever your loving mother Old Ann is well but not with us. Ellen is well and all other about here. Write when you can.

A change for us.
