Copy of Mrs Vera C Greers reply

Dear Kathleen,
I am very sorry to hear that your brother Mac has passed on. I knew him quite well and often visited at Dunmurry where he and Maggie lived then they were fine people so friendly and with a great sense of humour. I knew Kathleen and Marie of course Jack was the youngest. Kathleen was most domesticated and a great girl with her mother. Marie was a flaxen haired tomboy. I think it was mean of the Auckland Coles not to advise you (if they knew). You are marvellous at your age, goodness at 65 I feel tired I must shake myself.

Dorothy and Helen live together in Jersey, neither have children, Helen's husband died soon after German occupation of the Islands. He was very ill and couldn't be moved when people were evacuated to England. Helen of course stayed with him and Daisy was reluctant to leave her and when she did it was too late. Julie's address is Mrs G Brooke 335 Thelwall ???? Road, Warrington, Cheshire, England. She and her hubby are well and have 2 boys and 2 girls married. I hear from her every Xmas, she is quite clever with oils and water colours. Of course Martin would give Kathleen all the family news.

Helen's husband was an artist, quite successful and pictures hung in the Royal Academy. Helen I know better than any of the girls, she stayed a lot with me when I lived in Belfast she'd stay with us or Maggie for months I never hear from her.

That's the gist of it and as Mac (son) is away from home I will close as I have a chance of catching todays mail.
Your old uncle
Bob

Notes:

Believe Helen Coates Cole's husband could be Richard G Crawford.
He did paintings in Jersey, died 1941 and exhibited at the Royal Academy.

Richard Goldie Crawford was born in London and entered the RA schools in 1893, he was still in London in 1898 but by 1907 was in residence in Jersey and died in Jersey in 1941
Still under investigation
