John Cole at Irish Hill Ballymaglaff

Death Notice The Northern Standard Friday, February 19, 1875
On the 7th Inst at his residence Dromore House Castleshane, County Monaghan,
Mr John Cole formerly of Irish Hill County Down, in his 84th year

On this 1880 map below Irish Hill is is in the townland of Ballymaglaff. This tallies with the information in the Tithe Aplotments 1834 and the Griffith's Valuations of 1863-4. If these records all relate to John Cole of Dromore then he only moved to Dromore after 1864 when he would have been 72. Following that line it would mean that his children were born in Ballymaglaff and should be registered in Comber or nearby.
Tithe Aplotments 1834
John Cole    Ballymaglaff     16 acres     30 shillings a year

Griffith's Valuations of 1863-4
John Cole    Larch Hill, Ballymaglaff

There is also another John Cole of Ballymaglaff on this Griffiths Valuation which needs to be checked. Is this John Cole & Elizabeth Bell and John Cole & Betty Boyd both living in the same area.

Ballymaglaff is a few miles north west of Comber

Robert Cole took most of these Irish hill photos in June 2006 from the road Ballymaglaff Rd, Castlereagh, Northern Ireland from the end of Gransha Road, Castlereagh, Northern Ireland which runs into Ballymaglaff Road.

Robert and his parents, Rex and Molly, spoke to the  present land owner who told them that the original Cole  home had been destroyed by fire.
